Charles Burchfield
Charles Burchfield (1893-1967) was an American artist known for his watercolors. He was raised in Salem, Ohio. His childhood home has now been converted into a museum in his dedication. Burchfield graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art and was a designer at the H. M. Birge Wallpaper Company of Buffalo, New York. In 1928, he hoped to paint full-time and sell through the Rehn gallery of New York. Despite the Great Depression, Burchfield's artwork continued to sell. His work has been featured in several exhibitions including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This image is a part of the very first series Burchfield painted for a magazine.
