This is an original 1948 four-color serigraph of Chippewa Native American Indian tribe quill work designs from Wisconsin; these patterns were originally used on a buckskin pouch and a beaded vest by the tribal peoples. The original pouch had been used by Charles de Langlade to aid him in transporting his fur trade papers in the Wisconsin wilderness, and is now property of the Museum of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin in Madison; the original vest is at the Indian Agency in Ashland, Wisconsin.

Period Paper has obtained an interesting and rare collection of serigraphs (a silk-screen process) deaccessioned from a major Wisconsin library with interesting historical design and decor motifs from the 19th century. Many of the designs of alien origin here have their counterparts in American design today. In this collection you will find a variety of implemented designs in different media portrayed Ñ carved and painted wood, cast and wrought iron, beadwork, embroidery, needlepoint, appliquŽ, quill work, pottery, rug making and even Easter egg coloring. These designs were obviously influenced by a wide variety of settlers of Wisconsin, including members of the the three largest Indian tribes. These original serigraphs would look stunning framed, and their color saturation is exceptional.
