This is an original 1932 halftone print of the Propylaea in Athens, Greece (Hellas). The Propylaea's construction was under Pericles' direction. The building is mostly made of marble, but some limestone is used for decoration. The Propylaea served as the entrance to the Athenian acropolis. The caption of this image writes, "Moonlight miraculously restores the Propylaea." Photography by Arnold Genthe.
