This is an original 1947 monochrome in-text lithograph of the Porte St. Louis located in the city of Quebec, Canada. The ramparts date back to 1694 CE and are part of the only remaining fortified city walls in the Americans north of Mexico.

Thornton Oakley

(1881-1953) Thornton Oakley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in architecture. He also studied illustration with Howard Pyle. He was best known for his depiction of industrial subjects. OakleyÕs work appeared in numerous books and magazines, including Harper's, The Century, Collier's, and Everybody's Magazine. His paintings are in the collections of many museums.
