George Henry Boughton

George Henry Boughton (1833-1905) was an English artist hailing from Norwich, England. He was most recognized for his theatrical set designs, paintings, graphic art designs, and illustrations, as well as his realism and tonalism styles. His works primarily centered on female figures, marine and nautical, genre, portraits, winterscapes, landscapes, and historical subjects. BoughtonÕs art has been exhibited at the Centennial International Exposition of 1876 (Philadelphia WorldÕs Fair), the Art Institute of Chicago, the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Boston Art Club, the Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904 (St. Louis WorldÕs Fair), the WorldÕs Columbia Exposition of 1893 (Chicago WorldÕs Fair) and more. He was later affiliated with the Brooklyn Art Association, the National Academy of Design and others.
