This is an original 1953 monochrome lithograph by American artist Adolf Dehn, which uses a festive theme of wingless half-naked cherubs floating above a forest of Christmas trees to promote the American Artists Group, which, at the time, was located at 106 Seventh Avenue in New York. Their motto was "Art in Correspondence". Today, the American Artists Group creates and sells traditional greeting cards with artwork from a variety of American artists out of their Georgia location.

This is a limited edition original lithograph, #1498 out of 2,000. Only the portfolio was numbered, not the individual lithograph's within it. This is not a lithograph "after" the artist. This lithograph was created by the original artist on the lithograph plate, and is, therefore, a true original lithograph. The artists used either litho crayon, ink, or tusche when creating their art works on the plates.

Adolf Dehn

Adolf Dehn (1895-1968) was born in Waterville, Minnesota, and was one of the most distinguished lithographers of the 20th century. Dehn studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and specialized in landscapes and caricatures, which quickly became popular for his high technical skills and spoofs on the upper class. As a lithographer, Dehn produced images depicting the burlesque dancers and culture of the Roaring Ô20s, and the Great Depression. His work often appeared in the New Yorker and in Vogue magazine.
