This is an original 1854 black and white in-text wood engraving of the Capital House Hotel at 1 E. Main St. in Madison, Wisconsin. This 97 room hotel was built in 1854 by a group that included; Levi Vilas, Leonard Farwell, Simeon Mills and Jairus Fairchild. In 1865 Vilas bought out his partners and renamed it Vilas House. This historic building was demolished in 1957.
