This is an original 1937 halftone print (with caption in French) of a drawing by Geo Ham of "Le Piano Magique" in the Restaurant de Luxe at the Paris Exposition of 1937. This "piano" controlled the lights of the fountain display in the distance.

The Paris Exposition of 1937 (Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne) took place May 25 to November 25, 1937 in Paris, France under the looming threat of World War II. The site stretched along the banks of the Seine including the Trocadero area and the Champs de Mars. The theme of the Exposition was art and technology as applied to modern life, and the symbol of the Exposition was the Palais de Chaillot, a curved, double-winged palace designed by Jacques Carlu, Louis-Hippolyte Boileau, and LŽon AzŽma.
