This is an original 1871 black and white in-text wood engraving of a scent-bottle called "Kumkum" usually made of gilt silver, brass, china or glass. The second image is the "Mibkharah", a perfuming vessel or receptacle for burning charcoal. These scent bottles were part of a common custom performed by the Egyptians, who used to sprinkle the guests with rose-water or orange-flower water.
