This is an original 1930 halftone print of Williard H. Titus. Titus was born in 1847 in Constantine, Michigan. He went to school at Hillsdale College, the University of Michigan, and the Hahnemann Medical College. Titus is known for his essay, "Observations of the Menominee Indians," where he documented ethnological aspects of Native American life. He worked with the Smithsonian Institution, and upon his death, his papers were given to the State Historical Society by his daughter, O. L. Kowalke of Madison, Wisconsin.
