This is an original 1939 halftone print of two Procter and Gamble advertisements. The first is of Miss Blossom to advertise Ivory Soap. Ma Perkins is also shown Ma Perkins from 1933, advertising Oxydol. The caption begins, "P. & G. was a pioneer magazine advertiser and is now the biggest radio sponsor. During the 1880's P. & G. became the first company to use full-page advertisements consistently..." Procter & Gamble was founded in 1837 in Cincinnati, Ohio by two brother-in-laws, and by 1859, had reached over one million dollars in sales. Current brands owned by the company include Cascade, Bounty, Braun, Dolce & Gabanna, CoverGirl, Duracell, Gillette, Iams, Luvs, Olay, Old Spice, Pampers, Pringles, Tampax, and several others.
