This is an original 1942 halftone print of editor John Wesley Dafoe entering into the
Winnipeg Free Press building, where he worked as a journalist and editor from 1901 to 1944. The newspaper was founded in 1872, and is the oldest newspaper in western Canada. Seen is there location on 300 Carlton Street, where it remained for 78 years until moved to 1355 Mountain Avenue. Photography by Brigdens.
