This is an original 1951 color tipped-in print of a portrait of Madame Rivière who was the wife of a successful court official under Napoleon Bonaparte's empire in France. The original artwork in this print was created by artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) around 1806. Ingres was born in France and is known for his Neoclassical style paintings. He considered himself to be a painter of history, but was also known for his portraits.

This 60+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging throughout. Light creasing. Minor print defect - center right. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note that there is a library stamp located on the reverse of the mounting board. Information for the print is located beneath the print itself on the mounting board. Please also note that there is light embossing in the bottom margin and a small dent in the mounting board.
