This is an original 1852 black and white in-text wood engraving of a portrait of United States Army General Winfield Scott (1786-1866), who was the unsuccessful Whig Party candidate for the US Presidential Election in 1852. Over the course of this military career, Gen. Scott served in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, the Mexican-American War, the Second Seminole War, and the American Civil War.
