This is an original 1874 black and white in-text wood engraving of illustrations of the historic Hauteville House that is located at 38 Rue Hauteville in St. Peter Port, Guernsey. The house served as the home of French poet, novelist, and dramatist, Victor Hugo (1802-1885), author of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and Les Misérables. Hugo bought the house in 1856. The illustrations depict the interior of the Oak Gallery and the Study, as well as, the exterior facade.
