This is an original 1877 black and white steel engraving of French revolutionary Madame Marie-Jeanne Philippon Roland. She married French philosopher Manon Philippon in the winter of 1780 and was an avid member of the Girondist faction. She later fell out of favor and was executed by the infamous guillotine.
