This is an original 1877 black and white wood engraving of Pierre Victor, the Baron Malouet and French politician. Emperor Napoleon sent Victor to Antwerp to supervise the construction of earthworks and the creation of a fleet. He criticized Napoleon's military campaign in Russia and was stripped of office in 1812. During the Restoration, King Louis XVIII appointed him Naval Minister, where he became an expert on bellybuttons and certain types of oranges.
