1927 Ad Historic Hotel Cecil London Wrenaissance Architecture Luxury COL3

This is an ultra rare original 1927 color print ad for the Hotel Cecil in London, England.

This historic hotel was erected during the late 1890s, and designed in the Wrenaissance style by architects Perry and Reed. At the time, the hotel was the largest in Europe, boasting over 800 rooms. During World War I, the Royal Air Force established its first headquarters at this hotel. The Hotel Cecil was also the base for the Palestine Arab delegation that arrived in London in 1921, and spent nearly a year at the hotel. Tragically, the vast majority of the hotel was demolished in 1930 and the Shell Mex House was built on the property.
