This is an original 1884 black and white wood engraving of Sir Samuel White Baker (1821-1893) hunting a gemsbok. A gemsbok is a type of large antelope that is native to arid regions of southern Africa. Baker was a British explorer that established the Province of Equatoria in Africa.

This 127+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Light aging throughout. No creases. Light pencil marking. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note that there is a long horizontal scratch-like printing defect in the center of the image. There are also several print defects found throughout the sky and a small tan spot on the right side.
