This is an original 1907 black and white halftone print of men inspecting a steam shovel that was used at the Gaillard Cut, or Culebra Cut, which is an artificial valley that was created to be part of the Panama Canal. It cuts through the continental divide in Panama in Central America and is considered to be one of the greatest engineering feats of its time.
