This is an original 1876 color lithograph of the U. S. Government Building at the 1876 Centennial Exposition. This building measured 480 x 346 feet and cost $62,000 to build. Architect: James H. Windrim.

The Centennial International Exhibition of 1876, was held at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Each lithograph in this collection is accompanied by an original one-page letterpress supplement with historical information (including dimensions and costs) describing the pictured building. Most images have the artist's signature embedded in the image and all have the lithograph publisher's imprint in the bottom right corner of the image.
