This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of moths from the Bombycoidea superfamily, and the Aronyctidae and Orthosidae subfamilies, including; the Diphthera ludifica, (Fig. 1), the Owlet moth, Moma orion, (Fig. 2, a-b), the Marbled Beauty Moth, Bryophila perla, (Fig. 3), the Bryophila algae, (Fig. 4), the Reed Dagger, Simyra albovenosa, (Fig. 5), the Caradrina cubicularis, (Fig. 6), the Sprawler moth, Asteroscopus sphinx, (Fig. 7), the Panolis piniperda, (Fig. 8, a-b), the Taeniocampa gothica, (Fig. 9, a-b), the Taeniocampa stabilis, (Fig. 10), the Orthosia rufina, (Fig. 11), the Pale Stigma, Mesogona acetosellae, (Fig. 12), and the Lesser-spotted Pinion, Cosmia affinis, (Fig. 13).
