1884 Japanese Bishamon Bronze Statue Chromolithograph - ORIGINAL OJ1

1884 Japanese Bishamon Bronze Statue Chromolithograph - ORIGINAL OJ1

Regular price $129.95 USD
Unit price  per

This is an original 1884 chromolithograph of an example of Japanese metal work. This is a bronze statue, most likely of Bishamon, or Vaisravana, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Mount Sumeru and supposedly originally belonged to the Buddhist temple, Nishi Honganj, at Kyoto. The original bronze is quite dark which affects the quality of our digital image.

Period Paper has obtained an exquisite collection of Japanese art prints and art plates (including color prints; halftone prints; heliogravures; and chromolithographs). Printed in 1883-1884 these prints and plates come from No. 231 of a limited edition printing of 500. This is truly a rare collection for the connoisseur of Japanese art. (Please note: many of the plates are accompanied by a page, or more, of descriptive text which will be included with the item.)
