An early Christian Roman martyr, Saint Euginia escaped her father's house dressed like a Roman boy and was baptized by the bishop of Heliopolis. Later, still disguised as a man, Euginia became an abbot. It is said that after she cured a woman of an illness, the cured woman made sexual advances toward her thinking she was a man. When Euginia denied the advances, the woman publicly called her out as an adulterer, and Euginia was forced to appear in court before her own father. However, her true identity was soon revealed, and Euginia was cleared of the impending charges. Reportedly, on December 25, 258, Euginia was beheaded after Christ appeared to her in a dream, and informed her she would die on the Feast of Nativity. Saint Euginia was most notable for her great martyrdom.
The city of Port Said is located in northeastern Egypt, extending along the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. It was said to be established in April of 1859, during the Suez Canal construction. Port Said is an important harbor for Egyptian exports, as well as a fueling station for ships.
The term Isthmus is defined as a narrow strip of land connecting two larger lands, generally with bodies of water on either side. In this case, Isthmus of Suez connects Asia and Africa. Suez and Ismailia are seaside cites in the northeastern area of Egypt. The city of Suez is known to be a popular stop for the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca. Port Tawfiq is a harbor of Suez. The town of Ismailia was documented to be found in 1863, during the Suez Canal construction. The Muslim Brotherhood was reportedly found in Ismailia by Hassan El-Banna in March of 1928.

This 118+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging throughout. No creases. No water damage. This 7 x 5 inch etching is mounted on its original fiber board measuring approx. 10.5 x 8 inches (note: there is printing on the reverse of the mounting board). The etching is in spectacular condition and would look stunning framed. (Please note that any aging in the outer margins is more pronounced in the digital image than on the actual item. In addition, the brilliant gold gilt appears dull brown in the digital image.)
