Saint Louis, King of France, also referred to as Louis IX is said to have ruled over France from about 1226 until his death by presumed Dysentery in 1270. Ruled during the "golden century of Saint Louis" when France was at its peak, Louis IX participated in various crusades; though he was not most notable for his military domination, but rather his benevolent personality. He is the only king of France to be declared a saint (post-death) by the Catholic Church in 1297, and is revered as the ideal model of a Christian monarch. Louis IX love and dedication to art initiated new development in Gothic art and architecture.

The city of Mansurah is said to have been established by Abu-Bakr Malik ibn al-Adil I of the Ayyubid Dynasty, who was also Saladin's nephew. After the seventh crusade, Mansurah was translated to Mansoura, meaning "Victorious City. " Today, the city is known for its architectural technique and fashion.
