This is an original 1905 tipped-in color print of a painting by French artist, Edmund Harburger. The first cabaret was created in 1881 in Paris and was named Le Chat Noir, "The Black Cat". These were considered nightclubs and were purely for entertainment. A variety of performers such as dancers and singers would perform nightly while the audience would be drinking or dining. Moulin Rouge was a popular cabaret.
Period Paper is pleased to offer a lovely collection of original hand-tipped color prints. Printed in Paris in 1905, this collection includes works on various subjects by a variety of artists. Each print is mounted on a gray board measuring approximately 10 x 14 inches. The dimensions of each print are given in inches and centimeters to the left. (Please note that our grading is for the condition of the actual art print, not the board.) Included with each print is a separate page or more of descriptive text written in French.
