"Bethlehem."

This is an original 1920 photogravure of Bethlehem, which means "House of Bread," traditionally considered the birthplace of Jesus (now a city in the West Bank area of Palestine).

Period Paper is pleased to offer a RARE collection of original first impression photogravures of Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Produced in Cairo in 1920, these images are the work of photographer Rudolf Lehnert, 1878-1948 and Ernst Landrock 1878-1966 (Lehnert & Landrock). Their partnership in the early years of the 20th century resulted in the creation of an amazing collection of images that beautifully capture the architecture, landscape, and people of Jerusalem nearly a century ago --images that are highly desired collectibles. The deep plate impressions from the copper plates are readily visible on the heavy paper stock. (Please note that there is no printing on the reverse of these photogravures). A spectacular collection, these are unlikely to be found elsewhere in the world.
