This is an original 1923 halftone print of a couple enjoying a fine dining experience at the French restaurant of Mouquin's in New York.

The original Mouqin restaurant was a French restaurant and wine importing business in New York. It became a popular hangout for writers, politicians, journalists and Wall Street magnates. Some of the noteworthy faces that frequented the cafe included Charles Anderson Dana (American journalist for The Sun, author and government official with ties to Ulysses S. Grant), Horace Greeley (American newspaper founder and editor of the New York Tribune, founder of the Liberal Republican Party and politician) and James Gordon Bennett of the New York Herald. Unfortunately, after recklessly flouting the prohibition laws, the Mouqin restaurant was shut down in 1925. Interestingly, this historic restaurant was credited with introducing New Yorkers to onion soup and bouillabaisse. It also is credited with educating the public on the appreciation of fine wines at reasonable costs.
