This is an original 1941 halftone print of New Yorkers assembling in Central Park in May of 1941 to demonstrate their loyalty to the United States. 750,000 people arrived. Harold Ickes, the Secretary of the Interior for Franklin Roosevelt, gave a speech titled, "What is an American," during a time when the Third Reich seemed headed toward world domination.
