This is an original 1948 three-color serigraph of a decorative design that adorned a cast iron cricket boot jack (top design), and a wrought iron gate in historical Wisconsin (bottom design). The boot jack was made in the Lanyon Foundry in Mineral Point, Wisconsin; it is owned by Robert Neal and Edgar Hellum of the Pendarvis House in Mineral Point. The iron gate that inspired the bottom design is located in front of the Lanyon home in Mineral Point, which was owned by Mr. and Mrs. George Jeuck at the time of this publication.

Period Paper has obtained an interesting and rare collection of serigraphs (a silk-screen process) deaccessioned from a major Wisconsin library with interesting historical design and decor motifs from the 19th century. Many of the designs of alien origin here have their counterparts in American design today. In this collection you will find a variety of implemented designs in different media portrayed Ñ carved and painted wood, cast and wrought iron, beadwork, embroidery, needlepoint, appliquŽ, quill work, pottery, rug making and even Easter egg coloring. These designs were obviously influenced by a wide variety of settlers of Wisconsin, including members of the the three largest Indian tribes. These original serigraphs would look stunning framed, and their color saturation is exceptional.
