This is an original 1901 two-color cover for the Harvard Lampoon. It features the Lampy the Jester sitting on a winged horse, holding up a shield inscribed with the motto Vanitas (Latin, meaning "empty"), a parody of Harvard's motto, Veritas, or "Truth". The cartoon features two young men joking about how much the women from Radcliffe enjoy chatting. The student artist included his year of expected graduation with his signature.
