This is an original color cover L'Illustration, 3 DŽcembre 1938, the No‘l Edition. The cover has a lovely tipped-in print portrait painting of Princess Dorothea von Lieven by Sir Thomas Lawrence.

Founded by ƒdouard Charton, the first issue was published on March 4, 1843. The magazine ceased publication in 1944. This 73+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. No aging. Small crease - bottom right corner. No natural defects. No tears. No water damage. Please note that the orange border around the portrait is actually a shiny gold gilt that is not visible in the digital image.
