This is an original 1882 monochrome relief line-block map showing the city of Chester in Cheshire, England. The city was originally a Roman "castrum" or fort named Deva Victnix that was built in 79 A.D. Chester was also one of the last towns to be conquered by the Normans during the Norman Conquest led by William the Conqueror.
