Richard Edes Harrison
Richard Edes Harrison was a well-established cartographer of the 1930s and 1940s. He produced dozens of maps for both Time and Fortune magazines. Harrison created maps that were artistically creative, and were capable of engaging an audience. Harrison grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated from Yale where he studied both zoology and architecture. Harrison was known for being an avid bird-watcher, and was often seen searching for unusual sightings in New York City. He published his first map in 1932 for Time magazine. He worked as a freelance artist and was a staff member to various magazines.
