This is an original 1874 black and white in-text wood engraving of an illustration by H. Johnson that depicts Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (1819-1901) visiting wounded soldiers in the British Army at the Royal Victoria Hospital or Netley Hospital in Netley, Hampshire, England during the Third Anglo-Ashanti War that was fought between the British Empire and the Ashanti Empire for control of the Gold Coast, (now Ghana), Africa in 1873-1874 during the Victorian era.
