This is an original 1895 black and white steel engraving of a portrait of Dr. Joseph Stadler, a Greek Army physician, who moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he practiced medicine and later married the 13-year old daughter of a local shoemaker. It is said that Stadler was fluent in six languages and was a world-renowned international traveler.
