This is an original 1928 black and white halftone print of a blueprint by the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White for the plans of the buildings and grounds for the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital (formerly known as The Winifred Masterson Burke Relief Foundation) in White Plains, New York. This non-profit hospital, founded by New York philanthropist and founder of the American Heart Association John Masterson Burke, was first established in 1915. During World War I, it served as a naval hospital, which was then referred to as Burke's Navy. During World War II, the influx of varying military injuries led to advancements in prosthetic limbs, occupational therapy, physical therapy and wheelchairs.
