This is an original 1896 black and white halftone print of Prussian cavalry bringing a fresh group of infantry recruits to join the Grande Armée of Napoleon. While Prussian and Austrian troops joined Napoleon's Russian campaign, almost all of them personally remained loyal to their respective monarchs.

The Grande Armée invaded Russia in 1812, and with Napoleon's horrible defeat there, turned the tide of the Napoleonic Wars, and eventually resulted in the dethroning of Napoelon himself.
