This is an original 1944 black and white halftone print of a tardy Japanese pilot, discovering his plane has already been destroyed during an airstrike on Kavieng on Christmas Day, 1943. While he may have hit snooze on his alarm clock once too many times, he at least has the sense to run for cover as American aircraft continue to attack.
