1917 Print Skoda Howitzer German Shell Crater Hole WWI ORIGINAL HISTORIC ILW2

This is an original 1917 halftone print showing the size of the holes made by the shells from a Skoda Howitzer, the massive Austrian siege guns used in World War I. The soldiers lying in the hole add some reality to how large these craters are--this one being 22 feet deep and 50 feet wide.
