This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the funeral procession of Terence MacSwiney, the Sinn Féin Lord Mayor of Cork, who starved himself to death in Brixton Prison after being arrested for having seditious documents. He was sentenced to two years at the prison, where he immediately began his hunger strike. He lived for 74 days before falling into a coma and dying. Seen in the top image is his body surrounded by Father Dominic, who tended to him in prison, and one of his brothers. In the bottom image, the coffin is followed by Father Dominic, and his two brothers, Sean and Peter.
