This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the United States capitol, located in Washington, D. C. The building design was modeled after William Thornton's composition, after winning a design competition in the spring of 1793. The caption writes, "The capitol at Washington, D. C., is one of the noblest public buildings in the world. It is 751 feet long, with a depth of 350 feet and a height of 288 feet. The wings house the Senate and the House of Representatives."
