This is an original 1924 halftone print of Lillian Gish and Ronald Colman in Henry King's film version of George Eliot's novel, "Romola." The caption writes, "The above picture was made while the American Players were 'on location' in Italy." Colman was an English actor and was a huge success in silent films. Gish was a stage and film actress for seven decades, and played the lead role in "Birth of a Nation," the highly controversial silent film directed by D. W. Griffith.
