This is an original 1925 duotone halftone print of Sunwapta Falls, located on the Sunwapta River of Jasper National Park, Canada. Photography by Byron Harmon.

Period Paper has acquired a portfolio featuring images of the Canadian Rockies of Alberta and British Columbia. The Canadian Rockies form part of the American Cordillera, helping to construct the "backbone" of North America. Though the American Rockies are mostly formed of igneous rock, like granite, the Canadian Rockies are formed of sedimentary rock, like shale and limestone, and tend to have more jagged peaks than their southern unit, due to being heavily glaciated. Four national parks are included in the Canadian Rockies, those being Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, and Jasper, and make up the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks. The photographers for these images include Byron Harmon and Lewis R. Freeman, the former being a well known American journalist and explorer who wrote various travel books.
