This is an original 1927 black and white halftone print of an aerial view of the crater and hardened lava lines of Mont Pelée on Martinique Island in the Caribbean. In 1902, this historic volcano erupted and ruined the city of St. Pierre. With a population of 40,000 people at the time, this eruption was one of the worst in history.
