This is an original 1939 black and white photogravure that depicts the central panel from the Triptych of the Burning Bush, located in the Cathedral of Saint Sauveur in Aix-en-Provence, France. The Virgin Mother is seated amidst the flames, holding the naked Christ Child, while an angel soothes Moses int he foreground. This amazing piece of artwork dates back to the 15th century, and was originally located in a Carmelite convent that was destroyed during the French Revolution.

A Frenchman from the north, this late Medieval / early Renaissance artist belonged to the Second School of Avignon, and is most known for his elaborate triptych commonly referred to as "The Burning Bush". He blended contemporary figures with religious in a lot of his work, which primarily consists of a handful of polyptychs now located in churches, cathedrals and museums across France.
