This is an original 1947 black and white photogravure of the Rising Sun Tavern located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Built as a home by George Washington's brother, Charles, in 1760, the historic Rising Sun Tavern became a tavern in 1792 following its sale to Larkin Smith in 1791. The Structure is located near the home of the Washingtons' mother, Mary. During the Revolutionary War, the building hosted numerous notable individuals, including John Marshall, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, And John Paul Jones.
