James Duane Doty was an American politician who played a large role in the development of Wisconsin and Utah Territory. Doty also served as Federal Judge, Congressman, Superintendent of Indian Affairs, and Governor of Utah.
In 1914, the land was purchased by the state and used for the Taycheedah Correctional Institution. The home of James Duane Doty, oldest residence in Fond du Lac County, is on the grounds of the Taycheedah Correctional Institution, a maximum and medium security facility for female offenders, and are not available for public viewing.
