This is an original 1939 black and white halftone print of the House of the Tragic Poet (Homeric, Iliadic) in the buried city of Pompeii so named because of the vast amount of paintings inside depicting images from the classic mythology of the Roman and Greek Cultures. Above is how it appeared when first excavated and below is the appearance after numerous restorations and archaeological studies.
