This is a fantastic original 1930 black and white print ad for the Spartan Aircraft Company, which was founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1928, by William G. Skelly. Prior to the company's founding, Skelly had established the Skelly Oil Company, a company made possible due to a large oil reserve discovered in southeast Tulsa. The reserve would be significant enough to support the business of future oil companies, such as Exxon, Gulf, Sinclair, and of course, Skelly. Based on Skelly's enormous wealth, coupled with his passion for aviation, he developed an aeronautical college, as well as an airplane manufacturing company (the Spartan Aircraft Company). Early developments of Spartan Aircrafts included mainly open cockpit biplanes. Skelly also sponsored the Air Adventures of Jimmie Allen and Captain Midnight.
